Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, demanding his immediate resignation following the latter’s name being mentioned in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet in connection with the National Herald–Young Indian case. KTR termed it an “unprecedented insult” to Telangana and said Revanth must step down if he has any integrity left.

Addressing the media, KTR questioned the silence of BJP leaders in Telangana, pointing out that BJP leaders in Karnataka have openly attacked Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar in the same case. “This exposes the unholy nexus between the BJP and Congress in Telangana,” he alleged, accusing the Modi government of shielding a “scandal-ridden” Congress regime in the state.

Calling Revanth Reddy a “habitual offender,” KTR referred to the 2015 “Vote for Note” case, where Revanth was allegedly caught attempting to bribe a nominated MLA and was dubbed a “bag man.” He also cited past allegations by Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who claimed Revanth paid Rs. 50 crore to become PCC chief. “The ED chargesheet now corroborates these claims, revealing who paid whom, what positions were sold, and the flow of money,” said KTR.

KTR alleged that Telangana has become an “ATM” for the Congress high command. “Whenever funds are needed in Delhi, Revanth Reddy delivers them to retain his post,” he claimed. According to him, Revanth made 44 trips to Delhi in the last 17 months, not for Telangana’s development, but to seek political cover from BJP leaders like Amit Shah.

He accused Revanth of pushing Telangana into a debt of Rs. 1.8 lakh crore without initiating any major projects or welfare schemes. “Where is this money going?” KTR asked. He further alleged that cash collected from builders and middlemen was diverted to Congress-run publications and campaigns. “Revanth is not a Chief Minister by public mandate. He is a CM made of moneybags,” he said.

KTR accused Revanth of striking secret deals with both the Congress and BJP. “Rahul Gandhi may be his official boss, but Modi and Amit Shah are his unofficial masters,” he remarked.

He also questioned why central investigative agencies have remained silent on multiple alleged scams under the current Telangana government. These include the Amrit Tenders Scam, where contracts worth Rs. 1,137 crore were reportedly awarded to a firm owned by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy; the Valmiki Scheme Scam, involving the alleged diversion of Rs. 45 crore to Congress leaders for election campaigning; the Civil Supplies Scam, marked by claims of large-scale corruption without any investigation; and the HCU Land Scam, which was flagged by the Central Empowered Committee but saw no follow-up action.

KTR also cited the ED raids on Congress Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s residence, where visuals showed money-counting machines, yet neither the state government nor central agencies issued any official statements. KTR alleged that Revanth is protecting BJP MPs involved in land scams, while BJP is reciprocating by shielding him from corruption probes.

 BRS Plans Statewide Agitation

KTR said BRS would approach the Governor to seek prosecution of Revanth Reddy. If no action is taken, the party will launch a statewide agitation to “expose the BJP-Congress collusion.”

He also questioned why Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has not raised the issue despite campaigning against corruption and for democratic values. “Why is he silent on Revanth’s corruption?” KTR asked. Citing former Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa’s resignation over a housing scam, KTR questioned why similar standards do not apply to Revanth Reddy.

Concluding his remarks, KTR reminded that the Supreme Court had dismissed the need for a CBI probe into the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project, rejecting previous corruption allegations. "The people of Telangana must now see the real face of this Congress regime," KTR said.

KTR Responds to Kavitha’s Letter, Urges Internal Communication

In the same press meet, KTR also responded to a letter reportedly written by BRS MLC K. Kavitha to party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). “Anybody can write letters to our party chief to offer suggestions. Ours is a democratic party. We encourage open dialogue,” he said. He recalled that several leaders had written similar letters during internal reviews held before Lok Sabha elections. However, he stressed that party matters should preferably be addressed internally.

“Every party has coverts. They eventually expose themselves,” he remarked. Commenting on political opponents, he added, “The biggest threat to Telangana is Revanth Reddy, and the bad omen is the Congress.”
