Hyderabad: Upping the ante over the Telangana government’s move to clear encroachments on government lands around the lakes and water bodies, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President and Sircilla MLA KTR said if the government agency tries to demolish any house, we will stand in front of the bulldozers. He said the BRS party will act as a shield for the people and protect them from forced evictions and bulldozing operations.

KTR chaired a meeting with city MLAs and MLCs at Telangana Bhavan where he held discussions with party colleagues on issues concerning the Musi riverfront development project and HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) demolitions across Hyderabad.

Later addressing the media persons, KTR said there is an atmosphere of fear among the city residents following the demolition exercise initiated by HYDRAA. The Congress government which had given the house titles to the poor some four decades ago is now demolishing the same housing units. Why should poor people suffer for the Congress government’s mistakes, asked KTR.

The BRS leader said the Revanth Reddy government is allegedly shifting its stance on the Musi river. He also said the party leaders would visit all areas which were affected due to the bulldozer actions.

“Sometimes they speak about Musi river beautification, other times they raise water issues. I want to know where is the clarity on the Rs. 1.5 lakh crore they talk about? We don’t see any Detailed Project Report (DPR) on it,” KTR told reporters here.

Highlighting the efforts made by the previous BRS regime for the beautification of the river, KTR asserted that the KCR-led government took the initiative to rejuvenate the Musi river and yet no poor people were affected. However, HYDRAA has created fear among the residents and builders alike.
