Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao has responded to the arrest of actor Allu Arjun in connection with a recent stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), KTR said, “The arrest of National Award-winning star Allu Arjun is the pinnacle of insecurity of the rulers. I sympathise with the victims of the stampede, but who failed, really? Treating Allu Arjun as a common criminal is uncalled for, especially for something he wasn’t directly responsible for.”

KTR also said the importance of respect and dignified conduct, condemning the government's actions. He said, “There is always space for respect & dignified conduct. I strongly condemn the high-handed behaviour of the government. By the same logic, Revanth Reddy should be arrested for causing the death of two innocent people due to the fear psychosis caused by Hydra.”

Allu Arjun was arrested by Chikkadapally Police on the morning of December 13, 2024, in relation to the stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, on December 4. The incident led to the death of 39-year-old Revathi and injured her 13-year-old son.

Three individuals, including the theatre’s owner and two managers, were arrested after the incident. After the deceased woman's husband lodged a complaint, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre’s management. The case was registered under sections 105, 118(1) r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita Act.

The arrested individuals have been identified as M. Sandeep (37), co-owner of Sandhya 70mm Theatre; M. Nagaraju (51), senior manager; and Gandhakam Vijay Chander (53), in charge of the lower balcony. They were remanded to judicial custody after being presented in court.

According to police reports, the stampede occurred around 9:30 p.m. when Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre with his security team. The large crowd that gathered to see the actor led to overcrowding in the lower balcony, where Revathi and her son were trapped. Revathi was declared dead at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital, while her son is receiving treatment. Police have stated the theatre management failed to implement proper crowd control measures during the event.

Following the tragedy, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences to the grieving family and announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the deceased woman’s family.
