Hyderabad: In a major relief to the BRS working president KT Rama Rao aka KTR, the Telangana High Court on Monday quashed the case filed against the BRS leader at the Banjara Hills police station.

Last March, KTR was booked for levelling an allegation against the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleging that he sent Rs 2,500 crore to the Congress high command for Lok Sabha elections and collected the funds through extortions from contractors and builders in the state, without any evidence.

During a meeting with the BRS leaders on March 27, 2025, KTR had claimed that there were allegations against the chief minister that he had taken bribes from contractors and businesspersons in the state and sent the money to the Congress leadership for the upcoming general elections.

Following a complaint from the Congress leader from Hanamkonda, Bathini Srinivasa Rao, a zero FIR (First Information Report) was registered at Hanamkonda police station and it was later transferred to Banjara Hills police station in Hyderabad.

The BRS leader was charged under the then Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505(2) (statements conducing public mischief).

Subsequently, KTR approached the High Court seeking to quash the proceedings in a case registered against him last year at the Banjara Hills police station. After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court dismissed the case.
