Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) received 61 complaints on Monday through its Prajavani platform, with residents reporting various encroachments across the city. Citizens came forward with detailed submissions, including supporting evidence, to highlight unauthorized occupation of flood canals, lakes, roads, parks, government lands, and public spaces.

In Kondapur village, Serilingampalli Mandal, Rangareddy district, residents reported that a 40-foot road opposite Pristine IVY Apartments near Raghavendra Shelters Colony has been blocked. The road, located between plot numbers 9 and 23 and 44 and 53, leads to a public park and has become inaccessible. They also reported that another 40-foot road, between plots 22 and 23 and 24 and 26, has been encroached upon by approximately 7 feet, causing difficulties for local commuters. Residents requested immediate action to restore road access.

In Gajula Ramaram village, Qutbullapur Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, locals raised concerns about government land encroachments on survey numbers 307/1, 308/2, 308/3, and 308/5. The land, covering over 271 acres, was previously under the Andhra Pradesh State Financial Corporation (APSFC) and later reclaimed by the Telangana government. Complainants stated that unauthorized occupation has resumed and warned that further encroachments are being encouraged. They appealed to the authorities to prevent any further loss of government land.

In Kompally Municipality, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, residents reported that two parks from a 1967-approved layout in Doolapally village’s industrial area have been encroached upon. The layout covers 157 acres with 1,696 plots, and originally included four designated parks. While two of these parks, located within the Fox Sagar FTL limits, remain protected, the remaining two have been occupied by heirs of the original landowners. The colony welfare association has urged authorities to restore these parks for public use.

Members of the Fishermen’s Association from Gajula Ramaram complained about encroachments on Mettukani Gudem Pedda Cheruvu, a 26.3-acre lake that supports their livelihoods. They said around 6 acres have already been encroached, and floodwater from five feeder lakes is being diverted through canals, preventing natural inflow. Unauthorized activity along the lake’s banks was also reported. The association requested steps to protect and develop the lake.

In another complaint from Shantinagar Housing Society layout in Serilingampalli Mandal, residents reported that a 60-foot road on survey number 132, which is part of an approved layout, has been completely blocked by private individuals. They stated that the closure is causing major disruption to traffic and daily movement in the area and called for immediate intervention. HYDRAA has assured that each complaint will be investigated, and necessary action will be taken in coordination with the respective departments.
