Search underway for student who fell into Koheda waterfall
Hyderabad: A bid to snap a selfie turned into a disaster for a 17-year-old student who fell into the Koheda waterfall beside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service road on Sunday afternoon and remains missing. Following the information, the Abdulapurmet police of the Rachakonda commissionerate sprang into action, and the search is underway.
The missing person is identified as Kyama Sai Teja, a first-year intermediate student at Tapasya Junior College, who was with seven friends when the incident occurred at approximately 4:00 PM.
Rescue attempts by friends prove unsuccessful
According to Abdulapurmet police, Sai Teja and his friends identified as Sai Ram, Nandhu, Mahesh, Jayanta, Vishnu Surnar, Karthik, and Sunil had gone to the waterfall to take photos. While taking pictures, Sai Teja accidentally slipped and fell into the water. His friends attempted to rescue him but were unsuccessful.
Police and Disaster Response Force continue search operations
The Abdullapurmet Police, with assistance from the Fire Services and the Disaster Response Force (DRF), started a search operation to locate the missing student. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Koteshwar Rao of LB Nagar zone and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kasi Reddy of Vanasthalipuram visited the site to monitor the ongoing rescue efforts. Further, the rescue operation continues.
