Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Khammam Unit on Monday, May 26, 2025, caught a government official and a private individual red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000.
Jekki Aruna, Sub-Registrar of Khammam Rural (AO-1), and Puchakayala Venkatesh, a document writer (A-2), were apprehended at the Sub-Registrar Office in Khammam Rural around 1:44 p.m. The bribe was allegedly demanded to register a gift deed in favour of the complainant’s son. The property in question, measuring 2,700 square yards in Survey No. 713/A2 at Thallampadu village, is jointly owned by the complainant and his wife.
According to ACB officials, Jekki Aruna initially demanded ₹50,000. The deal was later settled at ₹30,000, which was handed over to Puchakayala Venkatesh while he was seated in the complainant’s car within the office premises.
The tainted cash was recovered from Puchakayala Venkatesh. His hands tested positive in the chemical trap test. The investigation revealed that Jekki Aruna colluded with Puchakayala Venkatesh to misuse official position for personal gain.
Both accused have been arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases in Warangal. The case is under investigation. The complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.
