Hyderabad: In a grand culmination of the 9-day festivities, the iconic Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol was immersed in the waters of Hussain Sagar, marking the end of its annual celebration on Saturday. The towering 69-foot idol, which embodied the form of Sri Vishwashanti Mahashakti Ganapati this year, was immersed at Crane Point No. 4 on NTR Marg, amidst resonant chants of ‘Ganapati Bappa Moriya’ from thousands of elated devotees.

Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Shobha Yatra began its journey two hours behind schedule. Despite the delay, the spirit was resilient. Around 80 traffic personnel are deployed in two shifts to manage the 2.5 km route from Khairatabad, taking the deity past the Telephone Bhavan and the Secretariat, a path that would ultimately lead to the bustling shores of the Tank Bund and then immersed in Hussain Sagar.

Before, it rode on a grand truck heavily decorated to match the festive atmosphere with garlands and flowers draped along the sides and front. The Tank Bund area was buzzing with energy and devotion as the massive procession, thronged by devotees in large numbers, made its way to the immersion site.

Meanwhile, Vedic scholars performed the final worship rituals for the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh, offering prayers for peace and prosperity before the immersion ceremony commenced. The idol was then lifted by a powerful Bahubali crane for the sacred immersion.

Accordingly, the police had made stringent security arrangements around the Hussain Sagar area, especially at the designated crane points, to manage the massive crowds and ensure a smooth and incident-free ceremony.

It is pertinent to note that the traffic restrictions will be in effect from 06:00 hrs on 06-09-2025 to 10:00 hrs on 07-09-2025 along all main procession routes and may extend if required. Diversions are planned at Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta, Moosarambagh, Chaderghat, Falaknuma, Charminar, Madina X Road, Afzalgunj, Koti, MJ Bridge, Liberty, Khairatabad, Telugu Talli, and other junctions.

Subsequently, the public is advised to avoid major junctions like MJ Market, Liberty, Ranigunj, Tank Bund, NTR Marg, Necklace Road, and Khairatabad, and to use the PVNR Expressway or Outer Ring Road for airport travel. Additionally, Google Maps will provide real-time traffic updates on diversions and alternate routes for commuters' convenience.
