Food court encroachment near Radiance High School sparks complaints in Khairatabad
Hyderabad: Residents of Anand Nagar Colony, Khairatabad, have expressed concerns about a food court operating near the premises of Radiance High School. They allege that the establishment is causing distractions for students and has encroached on the public footpath.
The management of Radiance High School has formally addressed the issue to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). In a letter to the GHMC Commissioner, the school highlighted that the food court, located in Anand Nagar Colony, poses safety and sanitation concerns due to its close proximity to the school. They requested a municipal inspection and appropriate action to ensure compliance with regulations governing commercial activities near educational institutions.
The issue was also raised on social media by Pallavi Yadav (@pallaviyadav) on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). In her post, she urged authorities to take action against footpath encroachers in Anand Nagar Colony, citing safety hazards near the school, neighborhood disturbances, and incidents of eve-teasing. She tagged the Hyderabad Traffic Police and the HYDRAA Commissioner, questioning why no enforcement has taken place despite multiple grievances submitted.
Pallavi Yadav's post also accused the food court operator, identified as G Mahender, of extending the encroachment with a permanent setup covering the footpath. She called for the Hyderabad Traffic Police and HYDRAA to remove the obstruction through a “rope operation.” The residents and school management await action from GHMC and local authorities to address these concerns.
