Hyderabad: Residents of Keeline Homes Apartment in Pragathi Nagar, under Nizampet Municipal Corporation, have raised concerns over the unauthorized commercial conversion of a residential flat by one of the owners.

According to the residents, Kishore Babu Linga, the owner of Flat G1 in the apartment complex located at Plot Nos. 1826 and 1827, H. No. 6-121, is attempting to convert his flat into a commercial establishment without obtaining approval from the Town Planning Department or consent from the other 11 flat owners.

In a letter submitted to the Municipal Commissioner of Nizampet Municipal Corporation, residents stated that Kishore Linga is proposing to make structural alterations on the south side of the apartment to build commercial shops, including installing shutters. The proposal was shared during a meeting with other flat owners on October 15, 2023, where the majority strongly objected. A formal complaint was submitted to the Town Planning Department on October 14, 2024, and acknowledged by the municipal office.

Despite this, on January 31, 2025, Kishore Linga allegedly began the construction work. Residents reported that he removed the balcony grill and attempted to carry out external modifications with private laborers, including installing iron steps from the roadside. The residents immediately reported the matter, and municipal staff intervened to halt the work.

However, the residents fear that construction may resume without warning, as no permanent action has been taken. The issue has also surfaced on social media. A resident, Kolluru Surya (@koullurusurya81), posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m Surya from Pragathi Nagar, Bachupally. One flat owner is illegally converting our residential apartment to commercial without permission from 11 other owners despite 6 months @Nizampet_Muni @Comm_HYDRAA @bandisanjay_bjp @KTRBRS @TelanganaCMO @CommissionrGHMC.”

Another resident, Ram Kumar (@RamK_rk), wrote, “It seems despite the complaint, officials are not taking any action and there is no proper coordination between departments. @GHMCOnline @TelanganaCMO @hydcitypolice @Comm_HYDRAA.” Residents continue to demand strict enforcement against unauthorized construction and protection of the building’s residential status.
