Warangal: As his party completed 25 years, BRS supremo and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) launched a scathing attack on the ruling party for allegedly working against the interests of people and said Congress was the villain no.1 for Telangana state.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at the BRS party’s silver jubilee celebrations at Elkathurthy on Sunday evening, party chief KCR stated his BRS regime worked to improve water bodies by removing silt from lakes with JCB machines, and the Congress government is allegedly demolishing houses of the poor under the pretext of saving lakes.

“Whether in the past, present, or future, the number one villain for Telangana has always been the Congress party,” KCR said.

Recalling days of the formation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2001, the party president said many criticised and humiliated him for embarking on an aspirational journey to achieve a separate Telangana state. The naysayers even predicted that his party would not last long.

“The party’s flag is not only flying high, but due to all your support and sacrifices, Telangana was achieved. Today, we are celebrating 25 years of the BRS at Warangal,” KCR added.

He said previously Congress and TDP leaders would resist raising the ‘Jai Telangana’ slogan and we could not utter the word ‘Telangana’ inside the Assembly.

BRS chief said in the last decade, Telangana excelled in multiple sectors. Under the BRS regime, the newborn state achieved miraculous milestones as its per capita income soared to Rs 3.5 lakh and its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) topped national charts.

“Over 10 lakh acres of area received irrigation support in Palamuru region alone. The Kaleshwaram project was completed in just three years, and along with numerous check dams, turned barren lands into fertile fields. Telangana now boasts a paddy production of 3.5 crore tonnes annually,” he asserted.
