HYDERABAD: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, founder of Telangana Jagruthi, said at a Somajiguda Press Club round-table that she will lead protests over the Group-1 recruitment controversy and the state government’s handling of student issues.

Kavitha said she had not expected Telangana’s youth to suffer so much after statehood and criticised the government for actions that, she said, humiliate students and teachers. “These governments should not hurt our children. If there is a mistake, it should be corrected,” she said.

Views issue as a mother’s fight for students’ livelihoods.

She praised former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s early work for students but added that the present government has failed to hold Group-1 exams as expected. “After Telangana, we thought mothers would find solace here. But if we must fight again, we will fight,” she said.

Speaking in a personal, maternal register, Kavitha framed the Group-1 issue as a family matter: an appointment in a household transforms that family’s fortunes. “If a job comes to a family, the family improves,” she said. She warned that she will protest for a week and stage events to attract government attention, including a cooking-stove (vantavārpu) demonstration at Ashok Nagar mentioned as scheduled for “tomorrow” in her remarks.

Kavitha accused the chief minister and deputy chief ministers of belittling students by not addressing their concerns. “Telangana’s children can go hungry, but they will not bear humiliation,” she said, adding that her legal team is ready to wage courtroom battles alongside street protests.

On reservations and G.O. 29, she said the government has wronged SC, ST and BC communities and vowed a sustained campaign until G.O. 29 is revoked. She said the movement will stretch beyond Hyderabad into districts and villages, and that the organisation will pressure the government until the job calendar promised during elections is implemented.

Five resolutions demand repeal of G.O. 29 and full job roll-out.

The round-table adopted five resolutions:

  1. Cancel current Group-1 appointments and re-conduct prelims and mains.

  2. Fight for Group-1 results until the last round of protests.

  3. Intensify pressure until the election job calendar pledge is honoured.

  4. Ensure distribution of 2 lakh jobs fully before halting protests.

  5. Demand a comprehensive cleansing (praks̄ālaṇa) of the TS-PSC and repeal of G.O. 29.

Kavitha said the five resolutions will be sent to the Governor and the chief minister. She also criticised mainstream media for not showing the unemployed perspective adequately and said Telangana Jagruthi and allied legal teams are prepared to support students and the unemployed in both protest and litigation.
