MLC Kavitha reveals she opposed BRS-BJP merger while in jail
Hyderabad: BRS leader and MLC K. Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), has questioned the leak of her internal feedback to the party leadership and alleged a targeted campaign against her on social media.
Speaking to reporters, Kavitha expressed concern over the lack of internal solidarity in the party. "How can leaders remain silent when KCR receives notices? Instead of standing together, I am being attacked for raising genuine concerns," she said. "I’m being accused of having covert supporters and lectured on morality, but no one is questioning those spreading falsehoods."
Kavitha recalled that during the Delhi liquor policy case, she had offered to resign, but it was KCR who had asked her to continue. She also alleged that she lost the Lok Sabha election due to internal conspiracy within the party. "Despite that, KCR made me an MLC from the same district under protocol. But now, for asking to expose those who leaked information, I am being targeted."
She also refuted speculation that she was in talks with the Congress party. "These are baseless rumors. I have only one leader and that is KCR. I will work only under his leadership. I am not planning to form a new party. We only need to protect and strengthen the one we already have."
Kavitha said she had written numerous letters to KCR in the past, and he often tore them after reading. "This time, he did not. I don't know who leaked it, but I want the truth out. Was it one person or many? That must be found out," she said.
She also alleged that there was an attempt to merge the BRS with the BJP, which she said she had opposed even while in jail. "The party did not respond to the campaign against me. Who can expel me? There’s no such provision. I won’t be sidelined by paid IT cells, whether in India or abroad," she said.
Kavitha said she had never sought positions and recalled her involvement in the Telangana movement while pregnant. "The critics only existed in KCR’s shadow. What have they done for the party?" she asked. She added that Telangana Jagruthi, the cultural organisation she leads, has continued to raise important social issues.
"There is a clear attempt to separate me from my family. Think who benefits if I’m distanced from KCR. I don’t know who sent Damodar Rao or Gandra Mohan Rao, but everyone knows who they are close to."
She questioned the party’s silence in her case, especially when it had responded in other matters. "If the BRS weakens, it only helps the Congress and BJP. KCR has done no wrong. I believe he will return as Chief Minister. But action must be taken against those responsible for the Lok Sabha defeat. Just posting on X won’t be enough," she said.
