Kantara: Chapter 1 box office collection: Rishab Shetty’s prequel crosses Rs 300 crore worldwide in 4 days
Hyderabad: From the moment 'Kantara: Chapter 1' hit screens on October 2, Rishab Shetty's latest film ignited a box office frenzy, grossing over Rs 300 crore worldwide within days its release.
On its opening day, the prequel, set a thousand years before the original, grossed Rs 88 crore worldwide. Audience turnout remained strong, with Friday collections at Rs 65 crore and a 25 percent increase on Saturday to Rs 82 crore, bringing the three-day total to Rs 235 crore globally.
On Sunday, tracking portals reported an additional Rs 61.5 crore in net collections from India. In four days, the domestic net reached Rs 232.75 crore, and the global gross surpassed Rs 300 crore in under 96 hours.
'Kantara: Chapter 1' broke several records within four days, surpassing 'KGF: Chapter 1' with a domestic collection above Rs 185 crore. It is now the third-highest-grossing Kannada film, behind 'KGF: Chapter 2' and the original 'Kantara'.
By the end of its opening weekend, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' had outperformed other recent major releases and established its own legacy. Written, directed, and led by Rishab Shetty, with strong performances from Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah, the prequel demonstrated the enduring appeal of the Kantara series. Its box office success continues to grow.
