HYDRAA clears encroachments in Kandikal, reclaims 2,500 sq yards of government land
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has cleared illegal encroachments on 2,500 square yards of government land in Kandikal village, Bandlaguda Mandal. The reclaimed land falls under Survey Numbers 303 and 306 and was originally classified as Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) land.
According to officials, the land had been illegally occupied by Syed Basheeruddin and Syed Ameenullah Hussain. Despite failed attempts to regularize the land, they had constructed sheds, rooms, and shops without official permissions.
The encroachment came to light after residents filed a complaint through the public grievance platform, Prajavani. Following this, HYDRAA conducted a field inspection, and reports from concerned authorities confirmed the land was government-owned. Two months ago, the High Court ordered the demolition of the unauthorized structures.
Acting on these orders, HYDRAA demolished four RCC rooms, several tin sheds, and four shops. Signboards marking the area as government property were installed.
During the demolition, a few local political figures and individuals associated with the encroachers attempted to intervene. With support from the police, the situation was brought under control and the operation continued without major disruptions.
Residents welcomed the move and expressed satisfaction over the swift action taken. They thanked HYDRAA, Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and the Revenue and Police Departments for reclaiming the land.
