Concern over unhygienic toilets at Kachiguda Railway Station; Commuters demand action
Hyderabad: Commuters and citizens have raised concerns about the condition of toilets at Kachiguda Railway Station, citing unhygienic conditions and unaffordable charges. Passengers have reported that the toilets at the station charge ₹10 for urinals and ₹20 for full usage, with no visible rate boards to inform users. This has led to complaints from daily commuters, many of whom are unable to afford these fees. The situation has also contributed to instances of open defecation, worsening the cleanliness of the area.
The issue was highlighted by a social media post from user Hari SaaHo on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), who tagged the South Central Railway, Ministry of Railways, and the Telangana Chief Minister’s office. The post read, “Toilet at #Kachiguda Railway Station charging ₹10 for urinals, ₹20 for usage – no visible rate board. Common people can't afford this daily. This leads to open defecation & unhygienic surroundings. Please look into it. @SCRailwayIndia @RailMinIndia @revanth_anumula.”
In response, the official Railway Seva account acknowledged the concern and assured prompt action. They stated, “We’re listening and will do our best to help. The concerned officials are being notified. @Drmhyb We regret the experience you had. Please share your Mobile No. with us via DM so we can take immediate action. You may also raise your concern on railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal.”
The Divisional Railway Manager (Hyderabad Division) also responded, asking for the complainant’s ticket and mobile number to assist further. “Notified to @CCOR_HYB,” the manager added.
The Commercial Controller for Hyderabad Division, Secunderabad, expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured that the matter had been forwarded to the concerned officials at Kachiguda Railway Station for investigation and action. For any railway-related complaints, passengers are encouraged to contact Railway Seva on 'X' or use the official complaint portals.
