Kacheguda Railway Station facade lighting installed at a cost of Rs. 2.23 crore
Hyderabad: The facade of Kacheguda Railway Station has been illuminated with modern lighting at a cost of ₹2.23 crore, under a tourism-friendly initiative sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism and executed by the Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway.
The lighting project aims to enhance the architectural beauty of the station, highlighting its Indo-Saracenic and Indo-Gothic style and rich heritage. Various color themes are used in the illumination to reflect local, national, and international occasions and events, creating a visually appealing ambiance for passengers, tourists, and the public during nighttime.
The lighting system employs the latest outdoor RGB LED luminaires, rated IP66, with built-in DMX decoders supporting a 512 DMX control system. Secondary optics enable multiple lighting schemes to suit different events. The entire system is designed to be environmentally safe, free from light pollution, energy-efficient, and focused on safety.
Structural safety has been ensured by mounting the luminaires and electrical accessories securely and out of the public’s reach. Surge protection devices of appropriate ratings and dedicated copper plate earthing at multiple locations protect the system from high surge voltages.
Kacheguda Railway Station, a major terminal in Hyderabad’s twin cities, has five platforms and provides modern passenger amenities. It handles an average of 103 trains and 45,000 passengers daily, serving the city for over 100 years with reliable rail services.
Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, will dedicate the facade lighting to the nation on June 9, 2025, at the station. The event will be attended by senior railway officials, including Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of South Central Railway, along with other dignitaries and public representatives.
