‘Kabali’ film producer KP Chowdary ends life in Goa

Hyderabad: Tollywood film producer and distributor Sunkara Krishna Prasad Chowdary, who was earlier arrested in a drug case, allegedly ended his life in the room booked by him at a hotel in Goa on Monday. The hotel staff alerted the police after they found him lifeless in the hotel room.

As per the sources, he was reportedly distressed after the Cyberabad police arrested him in connection with a drug peddling case in June 2023. He was also distressed by financial struggles. He was a native of Khammam district.

In a joint operation, Special Operations Team (SOT Madhapur) and Rajendranagar police arrested Chowdary when he was peddling drugs near Kismatpur X Roads under the limits of Rajendranagar police station. At the time of arrest, a total of 90 sachets containing 82.75 grams of cocaine was found in his possession.

KP Chowdary entered the film industry in 2016. He had produced a Telugu film Kabali. Subsequently, he distributed films like ‘Sardar Gabbar Singh’, ‘Seetamma Vaaktilo Sirimalle Chettu’, and ‘Arjun Suravaram’.
