KA Paul criticizes Telangana CM Revanth Reddy over water crisis and leadership failures
Hyderabad: Political leader KA Paul expressed his disappointment over the performance of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, stating that it pains him to witness Revanth’s failure just 15 months into his tenure.
In a video message, KA Paul criticized Revanth Reddy for his remarks about being Chief Minister for the next decade, while highlighting the growing water scarcity in the city. "Today, we don't have water to drink in Ameerpet, and we are bringing in tankers. With over 1.2 crore people in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and more than 4 crore people in Telangana, the situation is dire. If there's no water in March, what will happen in April, May, and June?" Paul questioned.
KA Paul also criticized Revanth Reddy's political decisions, claiming that while Paul refrained from contesting in Warangal to support Congress, the Chief Minister seems to be helping the BJP win instead.
Paul alleged that the Chief Minister was financially supporting Congress and Rahul Gandhi. He also highlighted the increasing number of suicides among jobless youth, students, and farmers, attributing the issues to the government's failures within just 15 months of Reddy’s leadership.
"I am pained to see your failure as your well-wisher, Revanth Reddy. I urge everyone to share this video widely to help save the state," Paul said.
In a related development, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) recently imposed fines for the misuse of drinking water. On March 12, a resident of Journalist Colony, Jubilee Hills, was fined ₹1,000 for using drinking water to wash her vehicle. This follows a similar incident on March 5, when a person was fined for washing his bike with drinking water.
HMWSSB authorities have been taking strict action to prevent the misuse of drinking water, which is meant solely for consumption. Following multiple complaints, officials have been conducting inspections to ensure the water is not used for non-essential purposes.
On March 12, HMWSSB General Manager M Hari Shankar and his team fined Yerata Shobha for washing her vehicle with drinking water in the Journalist Colony area. Earlier, on March 5, the HMWSSB Managing Director, Ashok Reddy, observed water leakage while traveling from Punjagutta to Jubilee Hills Main Road. Upon investigation, it was found that a person was washing his bike with drinking water, resulting in a fine.
The HMWSSB has reiterated its warning, highlighting the need for responsible water usage. The board supplies 550 million gallons of water daily to the city, serving over 13 lakh connections. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from using drinking water for purposes like vehicle cleaning, gardening, or washing external areas, warning that violators will face legal action.
