According to the schedule, the notification will be issued on October 13. The last date for filing nominations is October 21, scrutiny will be held on October 22, and the final date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24. A total of 3,92,669 voters are eligible to vote in the constituency. The bypoll was necessitated following the untimely death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath.

GHMC chief stresses role of sector and nodal officers

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and District Election Officer R V Karnan said the role of sector officers as point-of-contact personnel during the election process is crucial. He urged officers to remain alert and ensure smooth conduct of the bypoll.

He was addressing a training programme for sector officers at the GHMC head office on Monday. Karnan directed officers to inspect all polling stations within their jurisdiction and ensure that minimum facilities — including drinking water, lighting, fans, toilets, and proper electrical arrangements — are available as per Election Commission guidelines.

He also instructed them to carry out vulnerable mapping with the help of local tahsildars, station house officers, and booth-level officers based on incidents from previous elections.

Teams told to ensure transparent, fair polling

Later, training was held for the Expenditure Monitoring Team, Flying Squad Team (FST), Static Surveillance Team (SST), Video Surveillance Team (VST), Video Viewing Team (VVT), and Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) teams. Karnan instructed all officials to perform their duties with integrity in line with Election Commission guidelines.

In the evening, he chaired a meeting with nodal officers at Panwar Hall, GHMC head office, and stressed their key role in ensuring peaceful and transparent elections.

Zonal Commissioners Anurag Jayanti, Hemant Keshav Patil, Apoorva Chauhan, Hemant Sahadeva Rao, and Ravi Kiran, MCC Nodal Officer Narasimha Reddy, Chief Horticulture Officer Sunanda, and Executive Engineer (Electricity) Mamatha were among those present.
