Life Conviction in Jawaharnagar POCSO Case
Hyderabad: A complaint was lodged at Jawaharnagar Police Station by Madapati Sravan Kumar of Venkateshwaranagar Colony, Dammaiguda. He reported that his four-year-old daughter Madapati Anjani @ Ammulu had gone to a nearby shop in the afternoon and did not return. The child was allegedly taken away by Abhiram Das @ Abhi @ Abhay Das, 38, a labourer residing in Ahmedguda Bandlaguda, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, and native of Bhadrak district, Odisha.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered in Crime No. 515/2021 under Section 363 IPC. During the investigation, the victim girl was traced and her statement recorded. Following this, additional sections 366, 376(AB), 376(2)(m), 377 IPC and Sections 5(m)(l) r/w 6 of the POCSO Act were invoked.
Verdict and Sentencing
In Sessions Case No. 13/2021, the court on 3 September 2025 convicted the accused. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs. 60,000. The court also ordered a compensation of Rs. 5,00,000 to the victim.
The case was investigated by K Shiva Kumar, ACP Kushaiguda Division, Malkajgiri Zone. The prosecution was conducted by Additional Public Prosecutor Shyam Rao, while Bhanu Chander, PC 6760, Jawaharnagar PS, served as Court Duty Officer.
