Court hands life term to 19-year-old for attacking Jagadgiri Gutta police constables

Nizampet: The Ranga Reddy District court in LB Nagar sentenced a 19-year-old to life imprisonment for attacking two constables trying to arrest him in a murder case on Tuesday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Harisha at LB Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, has convicted Sardar Chamkorthi alias Karan Singh, 19-year-old resident of Rajendernagar. The accused has been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment.

Going further into details, on 5, January,2023, a complaint was received from a police constable regarding an incident involving the apprehension of Karan Singh, a murder suspect, under Narsingi police station of Cyberabad commissionerate.

"Around 13:30-14:00 hrs, while police personnel were searching for the accused in Sikh Colony, Yellammabanda, they located Karan Singh. The accused attacked Constables Raju Naik and Vijay with a knife, causing severe bleeding injuries," read statement released by Cyberabad police.

The injured constables were immediately shifted to the hospital, and the accused was taken into custody. A case was registered under Jagadgiri Gutta police station. Following the investigation, the accused Sardar Chamkorthi alias Karan Singh was arrested on 5 January 2023 on the same day and produced before the court. A charge sheet was filed, and the case was committed to trial.

During the trial, the Court examined multiple witnesses and, after a thorough evaluation of the evidence, found the accused guilty. The Court sentenced the accused to rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000.
