IT Minister Sridhar Babu confirms 400-acre Gachibowli land is Govt property, not forest department's
Hyderabad: In response to recent news reports regarding the 400 acres of land in Survey No. 25 of Kancha Gachibowli, Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy District, IT & Industries Minister Sridhar Babu issued a statement to clarify the situation.
The land was originally allocated by the Andhra Pradesh government in 2003 to IMG Academies Bharat Pvt. Ltd. for the development of sports facilities. However, IMG Academies did not proceed with the project. In 2006, the Congress government identified regulatory violations and canceled the allocation.
IMG Academies challenged the cancellation in the High Court, which upheld the government's decision on March 7, 2024. The company then filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court, which was dismissed on May 3, 2024.
Revenue records, confirmed by the Deputy Collector and Tahsildar of Serilingampally, indicate that the 400-acre land is government property. It has been clarified that the land does not belong to the Forest Department or any other institution.
In accordance with the new land allocation policy, the Revenue Department issued an order on June 26, 2024, to allocate the land to TGIIC. Revenue officials officially handed over the land to TGIIC on July 1, 2024.
TGIIC confirmed that there are no natural sites, such as Buffalo Lake or Peacock Lake, on the land. The company also announced plans to preserve unique rock formations and mushroom rocks in the area as part of a green zone. An environmental protection plan is in place, and TGIIC has assured that no land encroachment or removal of water bodies or rock structures has occurred.
The government plans to develop world-class infrastructure on this land through TGIIC, with a focus on sustainable growth. TGIIC is preparing to invite tenders for the integrated development of the site.
