It was learnt that Pakistan's Armed Forces launched a series of drone and missile attacks across the India-Pakistan border on the night of May 8-9, 2025, marking a significant escalation along the western front. At the same time, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire multiple times along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
In response, Indian forces quickly neutralized the drone threats and effectively countered the ceasefire violations. The Indian Army confirmed that all drone incursions were successfully stopped, and the security situation remained under control throughout the night.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to defending India's sovereignty, stating, “Any aggressive actions will be met with force,” highlighting India’s strong stance against cross-border hostility.
The Ministry of Defence, in a statement on the night of May 8, 2025, confirmed that Pakistani drones and missiles had targeted military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. These threats were successfully neutralized using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods, with no casualties or damage reported.
Indian Armed Forces Launch 'Operation Sindoor' to Target Terrorist Camps
On May 7, 2025, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The operation focused on sites from which terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.
A total of nine sites were struck in the operation, which was described as precise, measured, and non-escalatory. The Indian forces explained that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, and restraint was exercised in the selection of targets and execution methods.
The operation followed the brutal Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed. The Indian government has vowed to hold those responsible for the attack accountable.
