Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Team to perform aerobatics in Hyderabad on Dec 8
Hyderabad: The Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will perform an exciting aerobatic display over Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad, Telangana, on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The performance is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., providing a captivating experience for aviation fans and the general public.
Formed in 1996, the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic team. The team will fly Hawk Mk 132 aircraft in intricate formations, executing precise maneuvers just five meters apart. A highlight of their performances is the integration of indigenously developed smoke pods, which create vibrant coloured smoke, adding a dramatic effect to their display.
Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) has performed over 700 shows across India and has represented India at prestigious international air shows in countries such as China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE. The team consists of 13 highly trained pilots, with nine flying in any given display.
Based at the Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka, SKAT operates under the Indian Air Force's No. 52 Squadron.
