Hyderabad: India carried out a military operation called Operation Sindoor early Wednesday, May 7, 2025, targeting nine suspected terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). This action was taken in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed.

The Ministry of Defence said the strikes were carefully planned to avoid escalating tensions and did not target any Pakistani military sites. The operation focused only on places linked to terrorist activities against India.

The strikes began at 1:44 AM IST and hit locations such as Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Muridke. These areas are known to host groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The government confirmed that all Indian aircraft returned safely and that the mission aimed to avoid civilian harm.

More details are expected later today from defence officials.

BJP Statement

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana spokesperson K. Krishna Sagar Rao supported the operation, calling it a strong response to the Pahalgam attack. He said Pakistan’s ongoing support for terrorism has been exposed again.

BJP Telangana spokesperson K. Krishna Sagar Rao added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has shown it will not tolerate terrorism and will take firm action to protect its people.
