IT raids ₹300-crore dal traders across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
HYDERABAD: The Income Tax Investigation Wing, Hyderabad, on Tuesday conducted searches across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in connection with a ₹300-crore dal trade probe.
25 premises searched across two states
Officials said simultaneous searches were carried out at 25 premises in Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Hyderabad. The operation covered four major dal trading firms suspected of large-scale cash transactions during the previous Andhra Pradesh government’s tenure, including withdrawals made around the 2024 Assembly elections.
Verification under way on supply lapses
Sources said the companies had obtained tenders from the Civil Supplies Department. The department is verifying whether the traders failed to supply dal under the Public Distribution System (PDS) despite having received full payments.
Among those raided were Hindustan Traders in Visakhapatnam and V Care Group in Kurnool. Multiple teams seized key documents and records related to the alleged irregularities.
