HYDRAA files cases after seizing lorries dumping soil in Hyderabad lakes

Hyderabad: On Monday night, February 3, 2025, in a series of midnight operations, HYDRAA DRF teams intercepted tipper lorries dumping soil in lakes within the limits of Bandlaguda and Pet Basheerabad police stations.

In the first incident, four tipper lorries were caught dumping soil in Undasagar pond under Bandlaguda police station. A JCB used for leveling the soil was also seized and handed over to the Bandlaguda police. Cases were filed against those responsible for the illegal activity.

In another operation at Pet Basheerabad, a tipper lorry was intercepted for dumping soil in Devulapalli Summer Kunta Lake. The lorry was seized and handed over to the Pet Basheerabad police.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath stated that special surveillance is being conducted on illegal soil and household waste dumping in ponds and government lands.

HYDRAA also filed cases against the culprits and seized the lorries involved in the illegal dumping.

Meanwhile, HYDRAA received 71 complaints during the Prajavani program, which was held until 8 p.m. on Monday. Most complaints were related to encroachments on parks and roads.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, upon being informed about illegal constructions blocking public roads, directed officials to remove walls built around residential colonies to restore public access. He emphasized adherence to approved layout plans for road maintenance.

In another case, residents of Abdullahpurmet in Rangareddy district reported encroachments on their plots by one Sammireddy Bal Reddy. They requested HYDRAA’s intervention to clear an illegally built farmhouse on their land.

Landowners in Ghatkesar Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, accused Nalla Malla Reddy of occupying their plots in Survey Nos. 716, 717, and 718. One complainant, Khaja Meera Moinuddin, stated that the encroachments have been ongoing since 2010, with 23 cases listed against Malla Reddy in the AP Gazette.
