Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out the demolition of illegal constructions at Komatikunta in Devarayangal village, Tumkunta Municipality, Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The structures, identified as Nature Resorts and Nature Conventions, were built in the Full Tank Level (FTL) area of Komatikunta Lake without the necessary construction permits.

HYDRAA took action following complaints from local residents about the illegal constructions. A detailed investigation involving officials from the Irrigation, Revenue, and Municipality departments confirmed that the buildings were within the FTL area.

The High Court, after reviewing reports from these departments, ordered the demolition of the structures. Representatives from Nature Resorts and Nature Conventions sought a 30-day extension to remove the constructions, but after the deadline passed without compliance, HYDRAA proceeded with the demolition.

In addition to its ongoing efforts to remove encroachments around water bodies and parks, HYDRAA has now also focused on tackling unauthorized advertisement hoardings across the city. On Thursday, the agency dismantled 42 hoardings that were found to have been erected without proper permissions.

The hoardings were associated with several outdoor advertising agencies, including Prakash Arts Private Limited, Lead Space, Uni Ads, and others.

HYDRAA has also launched a helpline for citizens to report the illegal dumping of soil and debris into water bodies. The agency is encouraging the public to capture photos and videos of vehicles dumping construction material into lakes and ponds and send them to the team for further action.

So far, 48 cases have been filed against developers involved in illegal dumping, and 31 lorries have been impounded for transporting the material.
