Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner A V Ranganath conducted an inspection of Mushki Lake, following the expiration of an August deadline granted to rectify irregularities in the lake’s restoration work on Monday. The project, initially supervised by Dhruvanshu NGO and Tattwa Organization, had been under scrutiny for delayed progress.

The Commissioner assessed the ongoing efforts and issued directives to expedite the process. Commissioner Ranganath emphasized the urgent removal of soil dumped within the Full Tank Level (FTL) area, mandating that the task be completed on a war-footing basis within the next two weeks. He assured additional machinery and support from HYDRAA to facilitate this critical activity. During detailed discussions with Tattwa representatives and local residents, he reiterated HYDRAA’s full cooperation for the lake’s restoration.

Community participation and appreciation

The visit witnessed active participation from Hanuman Temple Committee members, residents of surrounding apartments, particularly women, youth, and senior citizens, who highlighted the importance of preserving greenery, protecting the natural ecosystem, and ensuring the lake remains filled with clean water. The Commissioner’s personal involvement and commitment at the deadline’s conclusion were highly appreciated by the community.

The Commissioner inspected fresh water flowing into the lake through a bypass channel and commended citizens’ efforts.  The Commissioner was accompanied by officials from HYDRAA and the Irrigation Department, including Inspector Rajashekar, Divisional Engineer Ramadevi, and Assistant Engineer Narendra.
