Hydraa clears 12.5-acre land encroachments worth ₹1,100 crore
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday cleared illegal encroachments at multiple sites across the city, reclaiming around 12.50 acres of government land valued at approximately ₹1,100 crore.
In Banjara Hills, road number 10, Hydraa removed encroachments spread over five acres, estimated to be worth ₹750 crore. Similar operations were conducted in Medchal–Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy districts, where officials reclaimed another 7.5 acres of government property.
Fake survey number used for land grab
According to officials, a man identified as Parthasarathi allegedly forged documents under a non-existent survey number (403/52) to claim ownership of government land in Shaikpet mandal’s Survey No. 403. Based on complaints from revenue officials, Hydra investigated and confirmed the land as government property before clearing the encroachments.
Part of the land—around 1.20 acres—had earlier been allotted to the Water Board for improving the drinking water network. However, officials said the accused was obstructing the work.
Dogs, bouncers used for illegal protection
Officials said Parthasarathi had fenced the land and deployed bouncers and hunting dogs to scare away locals. Four criminal cases have been registered against him at the Banjara Hills police station.
Hydra, accompanied by a heavy police force, demolished unauthorised sheds and fences on the land and installed boards marking it as government property.
Encroachments cleared in Medchal, Ranga Reddy
In Kutbullapur mandal’s Gajularamaram-Mahadevpur area, Hydra removed encroachments over 3.50 acres meant for parks and public amenities. Another 3 acres of land in Medchal village, belonging to an AG Office Employees Housing Society layout, were also recovered.
In Ranga Reddy district’s Abdullapurmet mandal, Hydra cleared encroachments on a 680-square-yard park site in Sri Lakshmi Ganapati Colony, Thatti Annaram village. Officials said a resident had tried to occupy part of the park land claiming ownership. Hydraa fenced the entire site after verification.
