At Devarayamjal village, survey numbers 135 and 136, he examined a dispute over road obstructions in compliance with High Court orders and interacted with local residents. With the upcoming construction of a new court complex and a traffic police station along the same route, the Commissioner instructed municipal officials to restore the road immediately.

Locals allege flooding due to blocked stormwater channel

Ranganath also inspected encroachments along the stormwater drain in Devarayamjal. Residents complained that four colonies had been flooding because the drain linking Turkavani Kunta and Devarayamjal Cheruvu had been encroached upon.

He directed officials to verify the original width of the channel using village records, Survey of India data, and NRSC maps, and to remove all encroachments to restore the drain to its original alignment.

Nine-metre drain narrowed to two metres, say residents

Later, the Commissioner visited Vasavi Suchir India Layout in Thumkunta village, where the drain had been narrowed. He also inspected the stormwater channel linking Devarayamjal, Pothaipally, and Gundlakunta lakes, where residents said a nine-metre-wide nala had been reduced to two metres, causing flooding in nearby plots and houses.

Locals showed videos of the recent inundation, attributing it to pipe installations instead of an open drain. Officials said the change in design caused the blockage.

The Commissioner assured that a joint meeting would soon be held with officials from the Irrigation Department, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the municipality, and venture developers to resolve the issue.

Additional Commissioner N Ashok Kumar, Additional Director Varla Papaiah, and other senior officials accompanied Ranganath during the inspection.
