Hyderabad's CRYA Cricket Premier League 2025 begins with intense competition
Hyderabad: In an era where digital distractions dominate the lives of many young people, the Catholic Reddy Youth Association (CRYA) is championing physical fitness through sports, with a special focus on cricket. The CRYA Cricket Premier League 2025 kicked off in Hyderabad on February 15, 2025, with a tournament that brings together the community while fueling the spirit of youth.
With 10 matches already completed out of 50, the competition is intensifying, and teams are gearing up for the upcoming weekends. The top four teams on the points table after the inaugural week are JMJ Warriors, Holy Hitters, Blessed Challengers, and Dhatri Dragons.
The top performers of the week include Anthony Reddy Allam from Dhatri Dragons, Abd Kranz from Rayolina Champions, A Rahul Reddy from Holy Hitters, Thanush from Blessed Challengers, and Sathwik Singareddy from Elev8Edge. On the bowling front, Vinod Reddy from AB's Predators, Karthik Reddy from Holy Hitters, Basani Shashikanth Reddy from JMJ Warriors, Anish Boyapati from JMJ Warriors, and Gade Anvesh Reddy from JMJ Warriors are leading the charge.
Speaking to Hyderabad Mail, organizer Allam Nithin Reddy expressed gratitude for the success of Week 1, praising the performances across the board. "Special mention to our rising stars – Thanush (Blessed Challengers), a 16-year-old; Rana (Blessed Challengers), 17; Gade Anvesh (JMJ), 17; and Anish (JMJ), just 12. The competition is heating up," said Nithin.
The tournament has garnered sponsorships to ensure its smooth operation. Founder and Managing Director of DesignWalls Abhinav Shoureddy sponsors tournament balls and cash prizes, while Hyderabad Mail News Hub backs the "Man of the Match" awards. The total estimated cost for organizing the tournament, including grounds, umpires, live streaming, medical services, awards, and other expenses, is ₹663,000. Gurram Sandeep sponsored thirty thousand rupees to support the runners.
"We are thrilled to support young talent through this initiative," said Abhinav Shoureddy, Founder and Managing Director of DesignWalls. "Sponsoring the tournament balls and cash prizes is our way of contributing to the sport's growth and encouraging the next generation of players."
The growing popularity of cricket in Hyderabad is evident as it continues to unite people across generations. From street games to professional matches, cricket is woven into the city's culture, and the CRYA is helping to harness this passion through its league.
The CRYA Cricket Premier League 2025 also shows the increasing interest in the sport among Hyderabad’s youth. The league’s auction, held on January 9, 2025, at Golamari Farms in Moinabad, attracted significant attention. It saw a range of player bids, with the highest reaching ₹25,000 and the lowest at ₹2,000.
The tournament features 10 teams, each with a distinct owner and captain:
Nithin Reddy highlighted the association's commitment to promoting unity through cricket. “We want to bring people together and create lasting connections. This tournament is about more than just the game; it’s about fostering community spirit,” he said.
With an expanding cricket culture on the outskirts of Hyderabad, more grounds are being built to accommodate the growing demand. Youth in the city are increasingly seeking opportunities to engage in the sport, and initiatives like the CRYA Cricket Premier League are helping to shape the next generation of cricket enthusiasts.
