Hyderabad witnesses thick fog, causing motorists to struggle with visibility

Hyderabad: A thick blanket of fog has covered the city of Hyderabad, particularly affecting the Hyderabad-Srisailam Highway, causing severe disruptions to traffic early this morning, January 30, 2025. Motorists are facing significant challenges as visibility has dropped to dangerously low levels, making oncoming vehicles almost invisible.

In light of the hazardous conditions, drivers are urged to follow safety guidelines to avoid accidents. The Rachakonda police have advised motorists to reduce speed, drive cautiously, and use low beam headlights rather than high beams. Additionally, it’s important to keep the car's air conditioning on to improve visibility, avoid overtaking other vehicles, and remain alert at junctions and turning points. Drivers should also be cautious of cyclists and pedestrians. In extreme conditions, it is recommended to postpone travel when possible.

Weather expert Telangana Weatherman (@balaji25_t) predicts the end of the current winter conditions, with warmer temperatures expected to begin in the first week of February. He mentioned that while the last few days of January will still see cooler mornings and nights, the transition to spring will bring an increase in daytime temperatures, with highs likely to reach around 35°C.

Earlier, the weather expert also noted that an anticipated unseasonal rain event will be diverted towards Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh due to a western disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir, meaning dry weather will persist in Telangana. Therefore, the first week of February will see no significant cold waves.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted partly cloudy skies with mist and hazy conditions during the morning hours in Hyderabad today. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 32°C, with a minimum of 18°C. Light surface winds from the southeast are expected at speeds of 04-06 km/h.

Motorists and residents are advised to remain cautious as the fog persists, particularly during early morning hours.
