Hyderabad traffic volunteers promote lane discipline in road safety campaign

Hyderabad: In a bid to enhance road safety and raise awareness about proper driving practices and lane discipline among commuters, Hyderabad traffic volunteers conducted a Lane Discipline Campaign on Sunday morning in the city. The campaign, held as part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, took place opposite St. Ann’s School on SP Road, Secunderabad, in collaboration with the Hyderabad Traffic Police.

The initiative aimed to address a common yet hazardous issue observed on narrow city roads and flyovers: four-wheelers overtaking from the left side, endangering the safety of two-wheelers. Volunteers actively engaged with drivers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining lane discipline. They advised four-wheeler drivers to use the right lane while urging two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws to stay on the left, ensuring maximum safety for all commuters.

"According to traffic regulations, vehicles on single carriageways must not overtake from the left and should remain in the appropriate lanes. This simple measure can significantly reduce the risk of accidents, particularly for two-wheelers," explained a traffic volunteer.

The campaign was supported by the North Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shankar Raju, along with Gopalapuram Police Station House Officer (SHO) Venkat Ramulu and their teams. The officials praised the initiative and urged citizens to follow traffic rules to ensure smoother and safer road conditions.
