Hyderabad Traffic Police book 10,652 motorists for wrong-side driving in week-long drive
HYDERABAD: Officials said wrong-side driving has become a frequent and dangerous practice, leading to congestion and posing serious risks to both violators and other commuters. The offence is one of the major contributors to road accidents in the city.
To curb such violations and improve traffic discipline, the police have been carrying out targeted enforcement under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Awareness and public cooperation
Alongside enforcement, the Hyderabad Traffic Police are also conducting awareness programmes to educate commuters about road safety and responsible driving. Citizens are being sensitised through social media platforms to report traffic violations and promote adherence to traffic rules.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D Joel Davis urged motorists to refrain from driving against the flow of traffic. “Wrong-side driving endangers not only your life but also the lives of fellow commuters,” he said, appealing for public cooperation.
Vigilant citizens can report violations through the Traffic Police’s official Facebook and X (Twitter) accounts or by contacting the Traffic Helpline at 90102 03626 and the e-Challan helpdesk at 87126 61690.
