The deceased, identified as Devika, and her husband Satish, both software engineers, had got married six months ago in Goa. Devika was found hanging from a ceiling fan late on Sunday night. Her husband, Sadgurthi Satish Chandra, found her dead around 10 am on Monday and subsequently informed the police and her family members.

According to reports, Devika, a native of Kamalapuram in the Vikarabad district, completed her MBA in Pune and moved to Hyderabad after she got a job at a software company in the city. At the office, she met coworker Satish, a native of Mancherial. Their friendship blossomed into love, and after convincing their families, they got married in a grand ceremony in Goa on August 23 last year.

The couple had been having disagreements for the past few months and they were frequently quarelling on various issues. On Sunday night, at around 11 pm, a heated altercation took place between Devika and Satish. After the argument, Devika locked herself inside her room and her husband, believing she had gone to sleep, stepped out of the house and returned past midnight.

Upon his return, he found Devika’s room still locked. Assuming she was asleep, he went to bed in another room. The next morning, when she failed to respond to repeated knocks on her door, Satish informed the maid servant. She also tried to wake her up but there was no response. He then forcefully broke open the door and found Devika hanging from the ceiling fan.

Meanwhile, Devika’s mother has lodged a complaint with the Raidurgam police and alleged that the persistent demand for additional dowry led her daughter to take this extreme step. The police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
