25-year-old dies of heart attack while playing shuttle at Nagole Stadium
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man died of a heart attack while playing shuttle at the Nagole stadium on Sunday, July 27, 2025. According to the reports, the deceased, has been identified as Gundla Rakesh, who collapsed suddenly during the game.
Upon witnessing the incident, his companions immediately went to his rescue and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
It was learnt that Rakesh was the son of Gundla Venkateshwarlu, a former deputy sarpanch of Tallada village in Khammam district. He was employed at a private company in Hyderabad. The incident has left his family and friends in shock.
This is the latest in a series of sudden cardiac deaths reported in the city. On April 4, 2025, Vinay, a B.Tech student from CMR College, collapsed and died of a heart attack while playing cricket on the college campus in Medchal. He was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
On February 19, 2025, senior lawyer Venkat Ramana collapsed at an Indian Bank branch in Secunderabad. Despite immediate efforts by bank staff and customers, he was declared dead at the hospital. A day earlier, on February 18, advocate P. Venugopal Rao suffered a fatal heart attack during a hearing at the Telangana High Court.
On November 11, 2024, Vishnuvardhan, 31, died of a heart attack while circumambulating the Anjaneyaswamy Temple in KPHB. On October 4, 2024, a taxi driver died of a heart attack while on duty at midnight. Two days earlier, on October 2, Kalal Praveen Goud collapsed and died while shopping at a showroom near Pragathi Nagar in Kukatpally.
Another incident occurred on September 15, 2024, when Shyam Prasad, a software engineer, died of a heart attack after participating in Ganesh Utsav celebrations in Manikonda. These incidents have drawn public attention to the increasing number of sudden cardiac deaths in the city, especially among younger individuals.
