Sanitation worker killed after being hit by vehicle in Hyderabad

A sanitation worker died after being hit by a vehicle while on duty in Hyderabad on Sunday morning.

The victim, Renuka, a resident of Gudimalkapur, had been working with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for the past 15 years. Around 08.00am, while she was crossing the road near the Basheerbagh–Liberty stretch, a speeding tasker vehicle coming from Basheerbagh knocked her down.

She sustained a severe head injury. Fellow sanitation workers rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Police from Saifabad police station detained the driver, identified as Gajanand, soon after the incident. A case has been registered, and Renuka’s body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
