Hyderabad: As Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) kicks off in Hyderabad, citizens have taken to social media to voice their concerns regarding traffic issues and encroachments in various parts of the city. The operation, aimed at improving traffic flow and removing illegal parking and encroachments, has sparked a lively discussion online.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, participating in the initiative, addressed these concerns on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). In his post, he acknowledged the complaints about worsening traffic and highlighted the importance of cooperation between various government agencies, including GHMC, RTC, RTA, and political party representatives.

He urged them to collaborate in solving the city's infrastructural issues, warning that without immediate action, Hyderabad could face challenges similar to those of Bangalore.

He added that while the Hyderabad Traffic Police (HYDTP) cannot resolve all infrastructural problems, they would implement measures to improve vehicle movement in the coming days and months.

In response, citizens highlighted specific areas facing traffic congestion and encroachments. One user, @TrueTelangana, expressed frustration about the 30-minute travel time for just 4 kilometers and the repeated digging on the Rethibowli to Nanal Nagar X Road over the past year. They requested clearer communication about when the road would be restored. The Hyderabad Traffic Police responded, tagging relevant officials to address the issue.

@perpetuallybold raised concerns about the Masab Tank-Mehdipatnam-Tolichowki road, calling it one of the worst roads in Hyderabad with frequent traffic violations. They criticised the lack of visible traffic police during peak hours, accusing them of dereliction of duty.

Manish Kohli also shared his frustration about the road from Masjid Banda to Botanical Gardens, noting that encroachments, lack of parking space, and daily traffic jams were ongoing issues. He highlighted the need for political will and measures from concerned agencies to resolve these problems.

Other citizens highlighted specific traffic bottlenecks, such as the stretch from Botanical Gardens to Le Meridian, where parked vehicles in front of popular restaurants create blockages. @FindfactsC suggested that straightening the road in front of Le Meridian could help ease the congestion.

Additionally, @jaihindwala raised concerns about illegal encroachments on footpaths along Nacharam-HMT road, warning that it was causing accidents and forcing people to take dangerous detours. Despite some action from the police, they argued that stricter enforcement was necessary.

Lastly, @nrkotha pointed out severe encroachments on the drain at E-Seva Lane near KPHB, near Lulu Mall. The blockage was reportedly so bad that even one car could not pass through, causing significant traffic disruption.

As Operation ROPE continues, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have assured the public that efforts are underway to tackle these issues, with a focus on reducing congestion and removing encroachments for a smoother flow of traffic across the city.
