Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) received 63 complaints during its Prajavani grievance session on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Hyderabad. Many residents raised concerns about illegal land encroachments by local influential individuals, particularly on spaces designated for public use.

Complaints included reports of school grounds and playgrounds being seized, footpaths and service roads being blocked, and commercial activities taking place in these areas, with construction debris filling the spaces. Residents believe that clearing these obstructions would significantly improve living conditions in nearby residential areas, particularly those along major roads.

Other complaints involved the illegal conversion of agricultural land for residential use. Some individuals were reportedly using adjacent survey numbers to obtain permissions for construction, despite the land being intended for farming. This has resulted in farmers losing valuable agricultural land.

In a separate incident, HYDRAA successfully rescued a buffalo that had fallen into a manhole on 100ft Road, Ayyappa Society, Madhapur, Hyderabad, on March 21, 2025. The buffalo had been trapped for hours, and HYDRAA teams worked through heavy rain to bring it to safety. A HYDRAA official stated, “Every life matters—be it human or animal. This rescue reflects our commitment to protecting and saving lives, regardless of the challenges we face.”

HYDRAA also responded to a complaint about road encroachment in the 2 BHK Dignity Housing Colony in Kawadiguda, Musheerabad Constituency. Within 48 hours of receiving the complaint, the agency removed fencing and other encroachments blocking the road on March 21, 2025.

In Abdullapur mandal, Ranga Reddy District, HYDRAA began dismantling an illegal road constructed within the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone of Masab Cheruvu. The road, built with large rocks and fill material, encroached upon the 700-acre lake. Local complaints had highlighted the illegal construction by real estate developers. The issue was raised by MLA Mallareddy in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, urging authorities to take action.

Following an investigation, HYDRAA confirmed that the road had been built within the protected FTL boundary set by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The agency has initiated the process of clearing the road, which is expected to take time due to the large rocks used in construction. HYDRAA has assured that the road will be fully removed.
