The accused, identified as Ali Bin Hamid, 46, son of late Hamid Bin Ali, is a native of Habib Nagar, Nampally. He was residing in P&T Colony, Suncity, Bandlaguda Jagir, Ranga Reddy district. Police said he was unemployed and turned to drug peddling due to financial problems.

During the operation, police seized 45 grams of hydroponic ganja (OG), 2 kg of ganja, one mobile phone, an Activa two-wheeler (TS 07 HC 7825), and ₹1,03,500 in cash, all valued at ₹4 lakh. A case has been registered under Section 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Charminar police station (Crime No. 168/2025).

Drug network details

Investigators said Hamid procured drugs through contacts linked to a person known as Captain (alias OG bro/Farhan). The supply was arranged via dead drops or local couriers. Hamid repackaged the drugs into sachets and delivered them to consumers in Hyderabad.

Police added that payments collected in cash or online were handed over to Captain’s associates, Maaz and Moiz, at a garment shop in Gulzar Houz. They then forwarded the money to Captain.

Police caution

In a statement, Hyderabad police warned that even educated professionals were falling prey to substance abuse, sometimes turning into peddlers. “The rising addiction among youth has disastrous consequences for families and society,” police said.

HNEW appealed to parents to monitor their children’s activities and urged citizens to share information on drug abuse at 8712661601.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector S. Bala Swamy (HNEW), Sub-Inspectors B. Manoj Kumar (HNEW) and B. Praveen Kumar Goud (Charminar police station), along with their teams.
