Bars and wine shops to close in Hyderabad on April 6 for Sri Rama Navami
Hyderabad: The Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, CV Anand, has ordered the closure of wine and toddy shops, as well as bars attached to restaurants, within the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, on April 6, 2025, in observance of the Sri Rama Navami festival.
In an order under Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968, all wine and toddy shops and bars (excluding those in star hotels and registered clubs) will remain closed from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on that day, to maintain public peace and tranquility during the festival.
Similarly, in the jurisdiction of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, Commissioner Avinash Mohanty has ordered the closure of wine/toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants on April 6, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., for the same reason.
The closures are aimed at ensuring a peaceful observance of the Sri Rama Navami festival across both police commissionerates.
