Six cars collide on ORR near Himayat Sagar, traffic snarls
HYDERABAD: A pile-up involving six cars occurred on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Himayat Sagar on Saturday morning. Police said the accident happened when a car driver applied sudden brakes, causing vehicles behind to collide in succession.
Six-car collision causes 2km traffic jam on ORR
The mishap, on the Shamshabad–Gachibowli stretch of the ORR, led to a traffic jam for nearly two kilometres. Rajendranagar police and patrolling teams rushed to the spot and cleared the vehicles to restore movement.
All passengers escape unhurt as airbags deploy
Thanks to airbags, occupants of all cars escaped without injuries, officers said.
Heavy traffic on Vijayawada–Hyderabad highway
Traffic congestion was also reported on the Vijayawada–Hyderabad National Highway as people returned to the city after the Dussehra holidays. Long queues of cars, RTC buses and private vehicles were seen at Chityala, Choutuppal and Pantangi toll plazas, with vehicles moving slowly.
RTC and private buses were overcrowded with passengers. Police said they were regulating traffic to prevent snarls and ensure smooth flow of vehicles.
