St. Francis College for Women & American Corner Hyderabad organize 2-day GEN AI Bootcamp
Hyderabad: St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet, in collaboration with American Corner Hyderabad, organized a two-day “GEN AI Bootcamp” on January 6 and 7. The event aimed to empower participants with knowledge and skills in generative artificial intelligence (AI). It attracted students, educators, and AI enthusiasts eager to explore AI's potential across various fields.
Dr. Uma Joseph, Principal of St. Francis College for Women, and Melissa, American Spaces Programming Coordinator, inaugurated the event. In her welcome address, Dr. Uma Joseph highlighted the role of AI in transforming education and industry, underscoring the importance of equipping students with the tools to thrive in an evolving technological landscape.
Melissa highlighted the broad impact of generative AI, describing it as a powerful tool reshaping industries globally, from text and image creation to music and code. She also urged the audience to consider the ethical implications of these technologies and their role in building a more inclusive future.
The workshop featured a series of sessions led by experts Anuroop Katukam, Lead Consultant, and Shaik Abdul Khadeer, Managing Director of The II Club. Topics covered included an introduction to generative AI, code generation tools, AI-driven content creation, and tools for teachers, researchers, and developers.
A key highlight was the panel discussion, moderated by Melissa Nandula, which explored the transformative potential of generative AI in education, healthcare, and journalism. The panel featured Dr. Uma Joseph, Sudhakar Reddy Udumula, an award-winning investigative journalist, and Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli, a senior consultant in surgical oncology at Yashoda Hospitals.
The discussion focused on how generative AI can address ethical concerns, algorithmic bias, and data privacy while also shaping the future workforce and promoting innovation.
The boot camp provided technical training and a platform for collaboration, encouraging participants to think critically about AI's impact on society.
Afeefa Noorain, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, and K. Ravi Kumar, Coordinator of American Corner Hyderabad and Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, played key roles in organizing the event.
