Residents raise waterlogging, pedestrian safety concerns on NH65 in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Residents have raised concerns over severe waterlogging at the Ancillary Industrial Estate Gate, opposite Asian Jyothi Theatre in Ashok Nagar, along NH65. The issue falls under the jurisdiction of RC Puram Police Station.
A user, Koushik (@sai_koushika), flagged the matter on social media platform X, tagging civic and traffic officials. His post read, “Huge waterlogging at Ancillary Industrial Estate Gate opposite Asian Jyothi Theater Ashok Nagar on NH65 under @CYBTRAFFIC limits RC Puram PS. Whose failure is this?? @GHMCOnline.”
He urged authorities to address the problem before the monsoon, tagging officials from GHMC and the Zonal Commissioner. In response, the GHMC’s official handle acknowledged the complaint and said the issue had been brought to the attention of the relevant engineering officers.

Another user questioned whether the flooding was caused by the construction of a new flyover and road-widening work without adequate stormwater drainage. Koushik responded, saying, “Yes, 100-150 meters of road have been left without any stormwater drains. The existing ones are unscientific. Only the contractor seems to benefit.”
Speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Koushik said the waterlogging poses a safety risk and disrupts daily commutes, especially with the monsoon approaching. He also pointed out the lack of a pedestrian path near the BHEL flyover, which he said forces commuters to walk in unsafe conditions.
He called for immediate action from the GHMC and Roads & Buildings Department to prevent further issues and ensure public safety.
