Hyderabad: Rachakonda police, who were responding to what initially appeared to be a routine traffic accident, to their surprise, uncovered a drug trafficking operation along the busy Hyderabad-Nagpur highway. The Abdullapurmet police of Rachakonda commissionerate arrested a driver transporting 16.460 kilograms of ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra.

Going further into details, at around 9:22 on Friday night, Patrol car-1 of Abdullapurmet police station received a phone call from a caller, stating that one car bearing Regd No. TS 20D 1004, a white colour car, dashed into the divider before Nirmala Service Station / Indian Oil petrol pump, NH-65, towards Hyderabad road, Batta Singaram, Abdullapurmet.

Following the alert, police rushed to the spot and found a person named Bhukya Madhu (33), car driver, who informed that he was going from Khammam to Nagpur, Maharashtra.  On suspicious movements, the patrol car staff checked his car, opened the door and found two plastic white colour bags, inside bags with brown colour taped packets between the back and front seat middle and found a smell of ganja.

Subsequently, police secured two mediators and recorded the confession cum seizure panchanama of Bhukya Madhu and seized ganja weighing about 16.460 KGs, one Oppo mobile phone, and a car bearing No. TS 26 D 1004.  

When questioned, accused Madhu revealed that his friend Sadib from Khanapuram, NTR Circle, Khammam Dist, advised him to transport Ganja from one place to another, from Odisha to Nagpur, Maharashtra, and gain profit and share the amount for which he agreed.  “He met Sadib in Khanapuram, Khammam on 13.8.2025  and was paid Rs. 50,000 and was directed to go to Gokavaram, Rajamundry, where one person would hand over Ganja packets and to pay Rs. 45,000 to the party and keep Rs. 5,000 for expenses,” said Police. 

Following Sadib direction, Madhu went to Rajamundry, where one person handed over two bags containing Ganja packets at Rajamundry on 14.8.2025 and proceeded from Khanapuram, Khammam to Nagpur, Maharashtra state, via Hyderabad, and on the way on 15.8.2025 at Bata Singaram, he dashed into the road middle divider due to overspeeding, added Police.

In this case, Sadib, resident of Khammam, and one unknown person who handed over ganja at Rajamundry were yet to be traced. Abdullapurmet police registered a case and are investigating. The accused was arrested and was produced before the court.
