Neredmet roads turn unsafe with potholes after rains
NEREDMET: Several areas in Neredmet are grappling with badly damaged roads following recent rains, leaving commuters and pedestrians in distress. Residents said potholes have formed across localities, making daily travel unsafe.
Pedestrians complained of accidents caused by the uneven surfaces. Office-goers and students reported reaching their destinations late due to slow traffic movement. Locals alleged that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) engineering officials have been indifferent to the situation.
Major stretches hit
The main road from Yapral bus stand to Kowkur has been damaged at multiple points, turning into a pothole-ridden stretch. Roads from Sainikpuri Bhavan’s College to Ammuguda have also suffered serious damage. In Yapral Shaili Gardens, both main and internal roads have developed potholes.
The road near Ammuguda railway station leading to Shakti Nagar has eroded at a curve due to rains, posing danger to motorists. Other badly hit areas include Santosh Raghavendra Colony, the stretch from Old Neredmet junction to Devi Nagar Ramalayam, and localities like Kakatiya Nagar, Sai Nagar, Din Dayal Nagar and Brindavan Colony.
Officials respond
GHMC executive engineer Lakshman said: “We have submitted a report to senior officials on the urgent need to repair these pothole-filled roads. Temporary repairs are being taken up in badly affected stretches.”
Residents, however, said they want permanent solutions before the next spell of rains.
