Hyderabad residents urge action on poor Necklace Road footpath conditions
Hyderabad: A Hyderabad citizen has raised concerns about the poor condition of the Necklace Road footpath, which has been heavily affected by uncollected trash, fallen branches, bad roads, and sewage flowing near the Sanjeevaiah Park railway station. The issues are causing significant inconvenience to the public, particularly pedestrians.
The incident was highlighted on social media platform ‘X’ by user Rusty (@Rusty_2001), who shared his negative experience. His post read, “Went to see the Airshow & had a bad experience on Necklace Road footpath, covered with branches, trash, bad roads, and sewage flowing near Sanjeevaiah Park station.”
Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, local resident M. Ahmed expressed his frustration. "I went to the Indian Airshow yesterday and had a very bad experience. The footpath near the GHMC office on Necklace Road is in terrible condition, with no accountability from the authorities," he said. He also pointed out that the GHMC commissioner’s social media account is inactive and that he has yet to receive any response from the department regarding the issues.
Ahmed further highlighted the conditions around Sanjeevaiah Park MMTS station. "Sewage is flowing near the station, the parking area is in poor condition, and there are no signboards indicating the MMTS station," he said. "People from nearby areas want to jog on Necklace Road, but the railway tracks and mesh make it impossible."
He also mentioned the growing issue of youth making videos on the main road, adding that the roads need to be equipped with seating for visitors and a space to wait at the station. Residents of Patigadda and Prakash Nagar, which fall under Ward 149, Circle 30, have expressed their desire for an underpass to be built to connect the road to Necklace Road. They believe this will ease traffic and provide greater convenience for local residents.
Despite their numerous appeals, residents have not yet received any response from the authorities. They are now making a public appeal for action, urging the relevant departments to address these issues immediately and improve the condition of the area’s infrastructure.
