Six snakes rescued on Nag Panchami by GHSPCA and PFA in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: On the occasion of Nag Panchami, a joint rescue operation was carried out by the Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GHSPCA) and People for Animals (PFA), leading to the rescue of six snakes across different locations in Hyderabad city.

The snakes, including three from Shah Ali Banda, one from Hussaini Alam, and two from Mangalhat, were seized from snake charmers operating in areas such as Shalibanda, Gowlipura, Hussaini Alam, Doodh Bowli, Jiyaguda, Mosabowli, and Mogalpura.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, a total of 35 volunteers assisted in the operation, including Surender Bhandari, D. Joshi, Dinesh Anchaliya, Soudharm Bhandari, Pankaj Gupta, Taqi Ali, Praful, Nikhil, Siddhum, Akshay, Ajay, Faraz, Piyush, Deepak, Akshat, Shubham, Deepesh, Akhil, Tahar, Dharmik, Yash, Tillu, Sourabh, Deepesh, Ahsan, and Sibtain. Their collective efforts were crucial in the successful rescue.

Following their rescue, the snakes are being treated by Dr. Vishva Chaitanya, an expert in wildlife care. Once they recover, they will be released back into their natural habitat, the forest.

The rescue team expressed gratitude to the Mogulpura and Mangalhat Police Stations for their cooperation. Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GHSPCA) and People for Animals (PFA) also urged the public to report any sightings of snake charmers by contacting their emergency helplines at 9394578568, 8886743881, or 9441131481.
